about 37 kg (basic weight)
about 12000 Euro (basic price)
This is one of the most expensive and elite models that HP Velotechnik has on the market.
While the many other Scorpion and Gekko models can be motorised, these motors are limited to 25 km/h in Europe plus tolerance and a bit more in the US.
The Scorpion fs 26 S-Pedelec is in the next bracket of motorised trikes that are much faster. This trike will have assistance up until 45 km/h and thus could be perfectly suitable for inter city and inner city daily commutes.
There are some shortcomings however that have nothing to do with the trike itself.
Many European countries will not allow this trike on normal bike lanes so you have to use roads that cars use. Compared to cars, the trike is however quite slow. This can lead to dangers on the road.
Increasing visibility via reflectors and trike flags and other gear is important, but that might add additional weight.
I can promise you this: You will love this trike on a test ride! Go and try it out. But I also have to warn you: there are different needs for insurance, license plate and rules that make this trike lose the easy peasy allure of a trike with minimal regulation in Europe.
